William M. Crossland, B. Sc, MBA
President & CEO; Director

Mr. Crossland was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Thermal Energy International Inc. on August 7, 2009. He is an accomplished corporate finance and corporate development professional with over 20 years experience successfully executing a broad range of debt, equity and merger and corporate acquisition transactions. Previously as Managing Director of Corporate and Investment Banking at a major Canadian bank, and more recently as an independent consultant, his focus was assisting renewable and alternative energy and clean tech companies execute their business plans and realize their full potential. This assistance included: capital structuring, public and private debt and equity financing, project development and finance, merger and acquisition execution and advisory, strategic advisory, general management and Board of Directors and Advisory Board roles. As a result his experience in this sector encompasses more than 20 equity, debt and corporate development transactions totaling over $2 billion with a wide range of alternative energy companies, projects and technologies including hydro, wind, biomass, starch based ethanol, cellulosic ethanol, landfill gas to electricity, municipal solid waste electricity, heat recovery and biogas.
 
Julia Flynn, ACA, LLB
Chief Financial Officer

Julia Flynn has been appointed Chief Financial Officer for Thermal Energy. Prior to Ms. Flynn’s appointment as Chief Financial Officer, she was Director of Finance and Operations for the Company’s wholly owned subsidiary Gardner Energy Management Ltd. (“GEM”). Since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1995, she has played an integral role in the financial and strategic planning process of number of organisations from small private companies to large multinational corporations. As Director of Finance and Operations for GEM, Ms. Flynn introduced a comprehensive monthly financial reporting system and put into place detailed procedures and cost controls to maintain and strengthen the security of the Gardner Energy Management Ltd’s business. We look forward to Julia applying the same rigorous discipline, monitoring and control to the Company’s consolidated financial reporting. In addition to her Chartered Accountant designation Julia holds an Honours law degree.
 
Robert Triebe, M Sc., P.Eng,
Chief Operating Officer, The Americas & Asia

Robert Triebe has been appointed Chief Operating Officer responsible for the Americas and Asia. Robert has worked in varying capacities since first joining the Company in 1993. His responsibilities have ranged from research and development, to project design and implementation to his more recent efforts managing the North American and Asian sales team. Mr. Triebe is a Professional Engineer and obtained his B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and his M.A.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Ottawa. He has nearly 20 years of energy and environment sales and engineering experience, specializing in energy and water efficiency systems. His expertise has been derived from the large number of energy and water use and conservation audits, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering plans he has completed in industrial, institutional, and commercial facilities. Prior to joining Thermal Energy Mr. Triebe completed energy conservation screening studies and detailed feasibility studies, as the manager of the corporate Environmental Process Engineering group with Jacques Whitford Environment Limited (now Stantec Inc.). He is recognized as a technical and business expert in environmental technologies as demonstrated by his ongoing work with the Sustainable Development Technology Corporation (SDTC), reviewing applications for funding of environmental technologies on behalf of the SDTC and the Canadian government. Rob’s leadership will bring expertise, commitment, and enthusiasm to the Company’s operations in the Americas and Asia.
 
Grant Bailey
Director of Sales and Marketing, Europe, Africa and Australasia

Grant Bailey has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing responsible for Europe, Africa, Australasia and the rest of the world outside the Americas and Asia. Mr. Bailey, a respected member of the GEM team since April 2004, has always taken a leading role in sales development for the Company and has consistently grown sales throughout his tenure in all his areas of responsibility. Prior to his appointment as Director of Sales and Marketing Mr. Bailey was the Company’s Global Key Account Manager for our corporate level multi-national accounts. This role provided Mr. Bailey firsthand knowledge of agents, distributors and business practices throughout the world. Mr. Bailey started his career at the Atomic Weapons Establishment for the Ministry of Defence as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice, whilst completing his Higher BTEC. Working up from the shop floor, he has since developed with over 20 years of industrial sales and sales management experience with distributors and manufacturers across many related fields. Grant’s global knowledge and experience and his corporate level sales approach will greatly benefit the Company’s strategy to leverage sales by expanding our geographical reach and cross selling our products through strong corporate level customer relationships.
 
Denis Forget, P.Eng
Director of Project Development and Vice President of Strategic Business Development

Mr. Forget joined Thermal Energy in February 2005, after 12 years with Johnson Controls, most recently in the role of Lead Project Development Engineer in the Canada Region. He was responsible for leading the process of designing & developing conceptual customer solutions based on customer needs, leading & managing teams of engineering and subject matter experts, preparing business case analyses and sales proposals for sales teams and assisting sales teams in closing opportunities across Canada and USA.
 
Dr. Raymond Belanger, PhD.
Chief Scientist

Dr. Belanger comes to Thermal Energy from a British Columbia-based fuel cell technology company where he was in charge of the research and development division for the past five years. His research focused on all the company's R&D into customized fuel cell modules and hydrogen storage. He received his PhD in physical chemistry at the University of Waterloo in 1996 where his thesis examined chemical reactions involving NOx and carbon oxides on "metal-oxygen clusters". Dr. Belanger has a strong background in chemical analysis and an extensive career in alternative and sustainable energy research and development. He possesses a wealth of practical knowledge of phosphorous and nitrogen compounds, and the associated chemistry, all fundamental to the success of THERMALONOx™.

John Kelly
Chairman of the Board

John Kelly has been appointed Chairman of the Board of the Thermal Energy. Mr. Kelly is recognized as a pioneer in Canadian technology with over 35 years of entrepreneurial and executive experience in this sector. Mr. Kelly is currently Chairman and Partner of Enable Business Advisors Inc. Previously he was President and CEO of Clearford Industries Inc. from 2008 until 2009 and CEO of JetForm Corporation from 1995 until joining Reid Eddison in 1999, where he was a principal until 2008. From 2001 until 2007, Mr. Kelly was Chairman of NexInnovations Inc. Prior to that, he founded Why Interactive, was a founder of Computer Innovations Distribution Inc. and Nabu Network Corporation, and was also a founder of SHL Systemhouse Ltd. (since acquired by EDS). He is currently Co-Chair of Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATA), Canada's largest association representing the Canadian advanced technology industry to Government and the public. Mr. Kelly has received many honors and awards including Master Entrepreneur of the Year, Ontario (1997), Most Respected CEO, Ottawa (1998), Civic Entrepreneur of the Year, Ottawa (1999) and Ottawa's Business Man of the Year (2001). In November 2004, Mr. Kelly was inducted into the Canadian Information Productivity Awards (CIPA) Hall of Fame and in May 2005, he received the United Way Volunteer of the Year Award. He holds an honors B.B.A. degree in Finance (Iona College, New Rochelle, New York), an honors Law degree (University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada) and an honorary Doctorate from the University of Ottawa (Ottawa, Canada).
 
R. James (Jim) Ansell
Director

Mr. Ansell is President and CEO of Generation Resources Holding Co. LLC., of Leawood, Kansas, a private investment and holding company, which finances, develops, operates and maintains cost-effective production operations specializing in renewable energy projects in the United States. He is also Chairman of FirstEnergy Sustainable Energy Funds and sits on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council. Prior to founding Generation Resources, Mr. Ansell was Vice President of strategic development and alliances for Black and Veatch, a 2 billion USD global construction and engineering firm specializing in energy, water and information technology projects. Mr. Ansell has also held executive and senior management positions with a number of other major companies including Inter-Power/AhlCon Partners LP, ABB Impell Corporation, and the Babcock and Wilcox Co.
 
Michael Williams
Director & Chairman Audit Committee

Mr. Williams is currently an Associate Portfolio Manager with Independent Accountants Investment Counsel Inc. Mike possesses a background, which will be of great benefit to Thermal Energy, having spent nine years with Honeywell Limited in the role of Sales Manager and Senior Account Executive, where he was the lead sales liaison for the Thermal Energy relationship. Additionally, Mike spent two years with Johnson Controls as the Manager of Program Development in Eastern Canada, where he was responsible for the management of an engineering team mandated with the development of technical and financial solutions and the performance of energy retrofit programs. At Johnson Controls, Mike was also instrumental in working with Thermal Energy to develop and execute the cooperative agreement between the two organizations.
