This customer manufactures beauty products as part of a global conglomerate. Requiring the use of thermal energy for its manufacturing process, this customer sought renewable heating technologies to achieve net zero emissions across their value chain by 2039. After a successful steam meter trial demonstrating an average energy saving of 10%, the customer committed to a full site conversion to GEM Steam Traps to maximise efficiency and long-term performance.
Motivated by the impact of GEM Steam Traps at a sister site, this customer sought a solution to issues not only concerning its mechanical condensate drains, but to keep pace with its group’s sustainability objects.
A performance steam meter trial was conducted on three different applications to demonstrate the following:

The GEM Steam Trap performs reliably under site conditions for process-type steam trapping applications.

The GEM Steam Trap is unaffected by particulate matter from corrosion, or any other debris present in the steam distribution system.

The GEM Steam Trap does not have a negative impact on production throughput or quality, even on challenging multi-product production lines.

The GEM Steam Trap achieves significant reductions in steam consumption, supporting the business case for the project.
The test not only substantiated these points, but demonstrated an average energy saving of 10%. As a result, this customer converted all 176 mechanical traps to GEM Steam Traps, and benefits from annual energy savings, improved system performance and has eliminated steam losses caused by failed traps.
This customer is continuing to explore what other renewable heating technologies with Thermal Energy across its global operations.
