With a new wing being built in line with its expansion plans, this Canadian hospital had to serve an additional load of 2500 kW/h (8 MMBTU/hour).
The implemented solution achieved a seasonal efficiency of 95%, reduced natural gas consumption to 233,600 m³ per year, delivered annual savings of £165,000, and resulted in a payback period of less than one year.
With the considered alternative solution to install a fourth boiler, the existing boilers would have continued to operate at a seasonal efficiency of 70% (28% less than the Hybrid FLU-ACE), with an annual forecasted natural gas consumption of 319,000 m3 (36% more than the Hybrid FLU-ACE)
Technical Services Manager reported,
An ambitious energy saving program was proposed consisting of a £550,556 investment in modernizing our electromechanical systems, in the hopes of saving £167,000 per year on natural gas and electricity. Under this program, we acquired a hybrid direct contact water heater with a capacity of 3 MW. This type of water heater contributed greatly to the achievement of our energy saving objectives. The water heater’s energy performance and great reliability lead me to recommend this product without hesitation.
